Why Do We Need Rain? ๐ง๏ธ And Why Is It So Amazing??

"Some people feel the rain and others just get wet" - Bob Marley
Now that I have started this post with a famous quote let's get into why on earth did I create this random post? why would you read it? what is in it for you?
Clarity perhaps or maybe a new way of thinking.
So I was out walking my dog the other day and It was raining so I took down my hood and I was getting soaked! but wait I was like damn I love this feeling! but why?? is it the fact of when I was a child in school every time It rained we would get to watch a film instead of work and most of the time it was Shrek.
I have seen Shrek over 70 times and I can still watch it to this day!
Maybe my mind was programmed to associate rainy days with film?
Or could it be the fact that it helps my anxiety?
Or could it even be the fact I can train and practice creative movement with less people in the way?
There is many reasons why I love the rain.
My thought process when It rains I know this might seem strange to all of you but I feel that when the rain comes down it purifies the world, like all hate, bad thoughts and negativity gets washed away.
Ok there is times when I really want to practice flips but when we have soggy, mossy grass and rain it knocks my confidence to practice flips as I feel as if I'm going to fail the move because I have much greater risk of slipping and most of the time I practice on my lunch break and if I end up injuring myself then I may not be able to help my colleague close the store and working at a place like Costa Coffee it is always busy so this wouldn't be fair to make my colleague close the store by themselves.
Or for some of you you may not like the rain because your a business person and you don't want to end up going to a meeting with a soaked soggy suit.
Maybe your a person who straightens their hair and yes I know this well as I do straighten my hair and if I go out in the rain my hair goes all curly again then that is defeating the object right.
Maybe you are worried your electricals like phones, mp3 players and such will get wet?
However the rain is going to come down no matter what and we cannot stop it unless you have an ocarina and know the sun song but sorry guys this is not the ๐ฎ game Zelda so we have to make the best out of it.
Why is the rain awesome?
Well we need the rain for many reasons.
1. It feeds the plants, trees and grass and we all know that they need watering a lot.
2. Some people rely on rain for drinking water, because it is pure.
I've known many spiritual people who have buckets out for rain water.
3. Some people rely on the rain to wash there clothes, for example people who live in the forest, naturists.
4. Farmers rely on rain to help their crops grow and keep their acers fresh, and a lot of farmers have a water dispenser that collects rain water because being a farmer you always have to make sure your giving your animals the fresh food and purest water.
4. hearing the rain helps us sleep.
But why?
Rain sound is rhythmic and gentle and can feel like a soothing lullaby helping you fall asleep quickly. Studies have shown that when listening to rain sounds your body will unconsciously relax and your brain starts to produce alpha waves, which can simulate the state of the brain when you sleep.
Pretty cool stuff huh?
Did you know that there is over a million searches for rain sounds on YouTube? That person who told you they hated the rain the other day are probably listening to rain sounds for sleeping right now.
Here is one cool one I listen to on YouTube - ๐Click Here๐
Now don't get me wrong if It rains on one of my days off I would quite happily watch a film or better yet a duvet day Yey!
I am going to set all of you a task and that is next time it rains just go out for a walk, no music just listen to the rain sounds and how they change as your walking near trees, walking past garages, past houses the rain will sound different and don't think dam it! try to embrace it, be mindful of how it feels on your skin if you get soaked then it doesn't really matter as when you get home you can have a nice warm bubble bath and get into your Jammies and no I do not mean jammy dodgers however you could get into your comfortable clothes and dunk your Jammie dodgers into your hoc chocolate ๐คช
Felling the rain makes you feel alive as some people are indeed bed bound and they cannot go outside and experience the rain.
Prisoners too! being a prisoner you don't get a lot of outside time so being able to go out in the rain whenever they feel like doesn't go so well and even if they was out in the rain they always have to be watching their back so they cannot enjoy the rain and complete full zen.
Back to the purifies part did you know you can smell the rain? after or when it rains everything smells so fresh right? this is great for those of you who live in big places where there is so many takeaway shops and restaurants where all you smell is greasy, fatty foods the rain comes down and you don't smell the greasy, fatty foods anymore you just smell the fresh air and it smells good right?
Rain can indeed help with anxiety and not only the sounds that put you in zen mode but it's less warm and yes less people around.
Someone I know who has anxiety told me that he prefers the rain because when he's in the sunlight he feels as if a spotlight is on him however when he's in the rain he feels more comfortable.
Rain is also calming for pets too! I know there is some dogs who doesn't like to be out in the rain and especially cats!
I will tell you a story now about my dog Max.
He really really doesn't like fireworks he gets nervous when the go Boom! Boom! Boom!
I had thought I tried everything to calm him down but he was still barking and agitated, so I took him up to the bedroom and put on YouTube rain sounds and it was a live rain video where you could see the rain falling and the amplified sounds of rain and within minutes he was chilled and every now and again I would catch him looking at the TV almost watching it and Max is never bothered about TV.
So try that next time its firework night or you have some little weirdoes shooting off fireworks in may or any random day just put on a rain video, it may work for you too!
Thank you for reading this I hope this has helped a lot of you see the rain in a new light.
